Tiwaz est un groupe récent, créé en 2020, qui n'a pas perdu son temps puisqu'un EP 4 titres : Fights and Defeats a été enregistré et est sorti l'année de leur formation, et ayant pour objectif de faire un maximum de lives en France, en 2022. Originaire de Compiègne, Tiwaz est formé de 4 membres, avec Ludo au chant, Rod à la guitare, Baptiste à la batterie et Riwan à la basse et est issu d'une ancienne formation (Reborn, groupe de grunge metal). Se réclamant des influences metalcore façon Every Time I Die ou de punk hardcore à la Stray From The Path ou encore rock à la Foo fighters. Sur les 6 titres du set, 4 font partie de leur 1er EP. Les titres se succèdent avec une dynamique percutante, dont l'aspect mélodique s'appuie essentiellement sur la voix de Ludo, qui lui permet de produire de belles harmonies et qui ne manque pas de puissance. Sur les refrains, les chœurs accompagnent le chanteur à la manière d'un écho enragé.
Avec 'Call My Name', les riffs sont aiguisés et l'instrumentation confère à cet opus un souffle épique, tout simplement addictif. 'Reborn From The Mat' propose sa fougue belliqueuse ; les instruments, le chanteur et les chœurs se livrent une charge musclée. Sur 'Once Upon A Time', la rythmique se déchaîne, la guitare distille des accords stridents, bien que l'orchestration soit très rugueuse. 'Run Fast', 1er titre de 'Fights And Defeats', déploie un excellent potentiel. Les changements de rythmes ponctuent cette chanson à la fois énergique et accrocheuse.
Entre metalcore et hardcore, Tiwaz a su produire des compos toniques, avec des parties techniques de qualité. Un set stimulant avec un bel engagement du groupe qui me laisse un goût de trop peu. Mais, c'est certain, ce ne sont que les prémices convaincantes d'une suite qui s'annonce pleine de promesses.

Claiming to have metalcore influences like Every Time I Die or hardcore punk like Stray From The Path or rock like Foo Fighters. On the 6 tracks of the set, 4 are part of their 1st EP.The tracks follow one another with a punchy dynamic, whose melodic aspect is mainly based on Ludo's voice, which allows him to produce beautiful harmonies and which does not lack power. On the choruses, the choirs accompany the singer like a raging echo.
With 'Call My Name', the riffs are sharp and the instrumentation gives this opus an epic breath, simply addictive. Reborn From The Mat' offers its belligerent ardor; the instruments, the singer and the chorus deliver a muscular charge. On 'Once Upon A Time', the rhythmic is unleashed, the guitar distils strident chords, although the orchestration is very rough. Run Fast', the first track of 'Fights And Defeats', shows an excellent potential. The rhythmic changes punctuate this energetic and catchy song.
Between metalcore and hardcore, Tiwaz knew how to produce tonic compositions, with technical parts of quality. A stimulating set with a great commitment of the band that leaves me with a taste of too little. But, for sure, these are only the convincing beginnings of a sequel which is full of promises.
