The Midinettes est un projet de compos stoner qui rassemble Franck Ducasse au chant/guitare, Laurent Andrieux à la basse et Aurélie Ibillsi à la batterie.Nous les avions rencontrés dans le cadre du Sophia Live Music (SLM) en 2019, où le groupe avait exécuté un show particulièrement relevé. Depuis, le batteur a quitté The Midinettes pour être remplacé par Aurélie, présente elle aussi au SLM, avec le groupe de reprises pop/rock Firefly, dont elle continue à assurer son rôle de batteuse. Franck est également chanteur et guitariste du groupe de covers et de compos The Katts, dans lequel, il se produit avec ses 2 fils.
The Midinettes est le groupe dont le set est le plus soft du Nice is Burning Festival. L'instrumentation est beaucoup plus rock que metal. Certaines séquences musicales lorgnent du côté des bands de hard rock des années 60-70. Le chant est clair. 'Cherry' est une chanson entraînante. 'Maelstrom' propose un début apaisé puis une montée en puissance bien dosée. Avec 'I'm ready', les riffs envoient des accords saturés, le tempo est plus lourd. La voix y est plus puissante, l'ambiance sombre. Franck annonce : "un petit truc old school" pour 'This is the time', plus calme et très rock. 'F*ckin' Evil' poursuit sur cette lancée rocailleuse. Un titre avec de beaux contrastes : les solos de guitare y sont orageux, à l'image d'un road movie sur une route en plein désert, tandis que la tempête arrive puis éclate. Le répit semble impossible, la tension est à son comble, avant de retomber avec une entrée en matière plus douce sur 'On the celling'. Cependant cette éclaircie n'est qu'un leurre. La pression est bien présente et suggère que le point de rupture peut survenir n'importe quand. Franck intervient pour signaler : "on a une chanson joyeuse, exprès pour vous". Pas forcément plus enjouée que les précédentes, 'Don't bleed on me' est plus punchy. Le live s'achève sur "une chanson de fin du monde" dixit Franck : 'The flood' (le déluge), une rythmique saccadée, comme une ondée sur les pavés, pour un solo de guitare tendu entre saturation et puissance.
Entre rock bluesy et stoner, l'ensemble affiche une densité généreuse, gorgée de feeling.

The Midinettes is a stoner composing project that gathers Franck Ducasse on vocals/guitar, Laurent Andrieux on bass and Aurélie Ibillsi on drums.We had met them at Sophia Live Music (SLM) in 2019, where the band had performed a particularly strong show. Since then, the drummer has left The Midinettes to be replaced by Aurélie, who also performed at SLM with the pop/rock cover band Firefly, for which she continues to play the drums. Franck is also the singer and guitarist of the covers and compositions band The Katts, in which he performs with his 2 sons.
The Midinettes is the band whose set is the softest of the Nice is Burning Festival. The instrumentation is much more rock than metal. Some musical sequences are reminiscent of the hard rock bands of the 60s and 70s. The vocals are clear. Cherry' is a catchy song. Maelstrom' offers a calm beginning and then a well-dosed rise in power. With 'I'm ready', the riffs send saturated chords, the tempo is heavier. The voice is more powerful, the atmosphere darker. Franck announces: "a small old school thing" for 'This is the time', more calm and very rock. F*ckin' Evil' continues on this rocky way. A track with beautiful contrasts: the guitar solos are stormy, like a road movie on a road in the middle of the desert, while the storm arrives then bursts. The respite seems impossible, the tension is at its peak, before falling back with a softer entry on 'On the celling'. However this clearing is only a lure. The pressure is well present and suggests that the breaking point can occur any time. Franck intervenes to point out: "we have a happy song, especially for you". Not necessarily more cheerful than the previous ones, 'Don't bleed on me' is more punchy. The live ends on "a song of the end of the world" says Franck: 'The flood', a jerky rhythm, like a shower on the cobblestones, for a guitar solo stretched between saturation and power.
Between bluesy rock and stoner, the whole shows a generous density, full of feeling.
