Maureen a intégré DeViaTe depuis 2 ans et se produit aussi dans H.E.A.D.S., un groupe plutôt orienté folk (chant et bodhràn). Elle a été choriste et a dirigé les samples au sein de Fantom (Tribute To Ghost) et chanteuse et parolière pour Voidsight, groupe de Death/Black metal. Un 1er Ep 5 titres, Dev8, est sorti en 2019, avec une formation un peu différente.
"Bringer of Death" est un titre solide et accrocheur, doté d'une belle efficacité instrumentale. La tension est palpable avec "New Warrior". La guitare et la rythmique se contractent, puis se déploient, pour intensifier et condenser l'instant avec force avant le final. Les notes au clavier répercutent la portée dramatique de ce titre, sur lequel Maureen vient caler chant clair, growls et cris, exacerbant énergie et noirceur. Je suis rapidement captée et emportée dans l'univers tourmenté de DeViaTe. "The Town" permet au clavier de proposer une fameuse offensive mélodique interrompue par la guitare qui impose une cassure. La voix de Maureen retentit, s'élevant avec puissance, jusqu'au moment où quelques notes délicates se font entendre, tandis que l'orchestration reprend avec vigueur. "Revelation" est une agréable révélation. Les instruments nous entraînent dans un bouillonnement musical incroyable. Maureen survole ce déchaînement avec aisance. Puis, le calme revient. Maureen susurre les paroles ultimes de cette très réussie 'Revelation'. Elle précède "The Witch" à l'introduction stridente, relayée par la cadence soutenue des quatre musiciens. Léo assure les chœurs : "I am The Witch". Les solos de basse et de guitare et le rythme tumultueux et angoissant d’"Inner Peace" sont en contradiction avec le titre de cette chanson. "Leave me" offre de jolies ruptures et Maureen laisse éclater des cris déchirants, accentuant l'extrême sentiment de désespoir qui s'en dégage.
Manifestant une belle complicité, livrant de solides structures mélodiques, des arrangements soignés, des riffs syncopés et bien calibrés, des growls parsemés avec pertinence et une voix ample, à la puissance grave, qui s'harmonise pleinement avec une musique exigeante, DeViaTe dévoile, tout au long de ce live, la richesse de ce travail collectif et expérimental. Un album 10 titres est en préparation et devrait sortir cette année. Il faudra nous armer de patience.

A 1st 5-track Ep, Dev8, was released in 2019, with a slightly different lineup.
"Bringer of Death" is a solid, catchy track with a nice instrumental efficiency. The tension is palpable with "New Warrior." The guitar and rhythmic patterns contract, then expand, to intensify and condense the moment with force before the finale. The keyboard notes echo the dramatic scope of this track, on which Maureen comes to wedge clear vocals, growls and screams, exacerbating energy and darkness. I am quickly captured and carried away in the tormented universe of DeViaTe. "The Town" allows the keyboard to propose a famous melodic offensive interrupted by the guitar which imposes a break. Maureen's voice rings out, rising with power, until a few delicate notes are heard, while the orchestration resumes with vigor. "Revelation" is a pleasant revelation. The instruments take us on an incredible musical binge. Maureen flies over this unleashing with ease. Then, the calm returns. Maureen whispers the ultimate lyrics of this very successful 'Revelation'. It precedes "The Witch" with its strident introduction, relayed by the sustained rhythm of the four musicians. Leo provides the backing vocals: "I am The Witch". The bass and guitar solos and the tumultuous and anguishing rhythm of "Inner Peace" are in contradiction with the title of this song. "Leave me" offers some nice breaks and Maureen lets out some heartbreaking screams, accentuating the extreme sense of despair that emanates from it.
Showing a beautiful complicity, delivering solid melodic structures, neat arrangements, syncopated and well calibrated riffs, growls scattered with relevance and a wide voice, with a deep power, which is fully in harmony with a demanding music, DeViaTe reveals, throughout this live, the richness of this collective and experimental work. A 10 track album is in preparation and should be released this year. We will have to be patient.
