Porno Graphic Messiah s'appuie sur un show dans lequel la mise en scène viendra renforcer non seulement l'identité metal industriel du groupe mais aussi le message qu'il renvoie au public, au travers des textes de ses chansons.Fort d'une tournée aux USA-Canada en 2018, de 4 albums et plus de 400 lives à son actif, Porno Graphic Messiah, groupe de metal industriel, est créé en 2006 à Londres par Scars, chanteur et guitariste du groupe. Valentin à la basse, Sol Hellfire (qui est aussi le bassiste de Marie Antoinette) à la guitare et aux chœurs et Fabien, à la batterie, complètent la line-up.
Les musiciens ont la figure maquillée en blanc avec un trait noir barrant leur visage, gilet pare-balles bleu pour Fabien, Sol Hellfire et Valentin, noir pour Scars. Le décor se compose d'une toile fixée sur le mur du fond, sur laquelle les 4 artistes sont présentés tels des repris de justice. Trois cubes ont été installés sur la scène, pour permettre aux musiciens de prendre de la hauteur, d'échanger leur place et donner une dynamique de mouvement pendant le concert, le tout rehaussé par des jeux de lumière spécifiques à ce live (des spots supplémentaires ayant été ajoutés à ceux déjà existants).
Même si le jeu de Scars, Sol Hellfire, et Valentin captive les regards alors que leurs corps et leurs têtes s'animent au rythme de leur musique, bien qu'il soit caché derrière sa batterie, Fabien se déploie en une gestuelle ample pour marteler ses fûts et ses cymbales et s'amuse volontiers avec ses baguettes qu'il fait tournoyer au-dessus de lui, suscitant lui aussi l'attention. Chacun est dans son rôle et tout est conçu pour offrir une prestation élaborée et stylisée. En maître de cérémonie charismatique, Scars sollicite régulièrement le public afin qu'il soit participatif. Les spectateurs sont réceptifs et ça fonctionne.
Scars avertit : "Les jeux vidéo, ça permet de tuer des gens" et poursuit en faisant le parallèle sur le fait que notre société ne voit aucun inconvénient à laisser les enfants jouer à des jeux où tuer est banal et normal alors que venir voir Porno Graphic Messiah en concert ne le serait pas. "Not good for children", "Metal is too scary", peut-on lire sur le panneau à l'arrière de la scène. Et il conclura sur le fait que "le problème ne vient ni des jeux vidéo ni du metal". Scars annonce : "C'est une année pour vous éviter de tomber dans l'aseptisé". On comprend mieux leurs gilets pare-balles. D'une part, Porno Graphic Messiah n'est pas conforme à ce que souhaite la société - le groupe est un danger, car il renvoie à une liberté d'expression - et, d'autre part, le groupe se protège de cette société qui uniformise et annihile les différences en imposant sa norme.
Musicalement, cet appel à la prise de conscience nous est adressé sans complaisance. La rythmique est cinglante et puissante, les guitares sont tranchantes et agressives. Déstructurations, rythmes qui peuvent devenir lancinants, exacerbant le tourment. La voix de Scars n'est pas sans rappeler celle de Marylin Manson. Elle s'insinue en nous, prophétique, annonciatrice des périls qui nous guettent. Il y existe un bel équilibre entre les 2 composantes indus et metal. Les éléments électros s'intègrent avec intelligence à l'instrumentation. Le groupe, en pleine possession de ses moyens, a su imposer son style et son show.

The musicians have their faces made up in white with a black line crossing their face, blue bulletproof vest for Fabien, Sol Hellfire and Valentin, black for Scars. Three cubes were installed on the stage, to allow the musicians to take height, to exchange their place and to give a dynamic of movement during the concert, the whole enhanced by specific light effects for this live. Even if Scars, Sol Hellfire, and Valentin's playing captivates the eyes as their bodies and heads come alive to the rhythm of their music, although he is hidden behind his drums, Fabien spreads out in a wide gesture to hammer his drums and cymbals and has fun with his sticks that he twirls above him, also attracting attention. Everyone is in their roles and everything is designed to offer an elaborate and stylish performance. As a charismatic master of ceremonies, Scars regularly calls on the audience to participate. Scars warns: "Video games allow you to kill people" and goes on to draw a parallel with the fact that our society has no problem letting children play games where killing is commonplace and normal, whereas coming to see Porno Graphic Messiah in concert would not be.
