Korrigan, opéra rock de Philippe Casetti, sur le thème des korrigans, créatures issues des légendes celtes dont raffole le folklore breton, est le premier à se présenter sur la scène de l’Altherax. Philippe au clavier est accompagné de Cathia La Rubia, au chant, d’Alexandre Pulitano à la basse et d’Arno Arnoise à la batterie. Cathia remplaçait Magali, la chanteuse de Korrigan, empêchée.La prestation scénique n’a pas pu être réalisée, car elle réclame une logistique compliquée (décors), et des figurants. J’ai eu la chance d’être spectatrice d’un live de Korrigan en 2018 au Sun City à Sophia Antipolis où la réalisation scénique avait été possible. Si elle apportait effectivement une dimension supplémentaire à l’œuvre, l’interprétation musicale offerte au public de l’Altherax ne s’en trouve pas amoindrie pour autant. Cathia assure le chant, comprenant des parties lyriques audacieuses. Sa voix limpide et ample se superpose avec justesse à la musique. Philippe est rivé à son clavier. Il ne fait plus qu’un avec son instrument. Hypnotique, on le voit se mouvoir, on le sent vibrer, tout entier dévolu à l’interprétation de son imaginaire. Le compositeur s’est nourri d’expérimentations musicales, acoustiques pour imprégner son œuvre d’une énergie féérique et donner vie à ces farfadets. Nous sommes embarqués dans le rêve du Korrigan. La structure de cette création originale reste la même au cours des différents spectacles. Cependant, Philippe nous apprend qu’elle n’est pas figée et que lors des lives, les musiciens s’accordent l’opportunité de prolonger un instant musical, de modifier l’interprétation initiale. Cette possibilité vient rappeler que la création passe par la liberté de l’expression en fonction du ressenti, de l’envie, du moment. Le groupe nous a proposé un live rock ardent et rythmé, empreint de poésie, ponctué de fulgurances metal. Je sortirai à regret du rêve du Korrigan. J’aurais voulu qu’il se prolonge encore.

Cathia provides the vocals, including some bold lyrical parts. Her limpid and ample voice is superimposed with accuracy on the music. Philippe is riveted to his keyboard. He is one with his instrument. Hypnotic, we see him move, we feel him vibrate, entirely devoted to the interpretation of his imagination. The composer has used musical and acoustic experiments to impregnate his work with a magical energy and give life to these goblins. We are embarked in the dream of the Korrigan. The structure of this original creation remains the same throughout the different shows. However, Philippe teaches us that it is not fixed and that during the live performances, the musicians allow themselves the opportunity to prolong a musical moment, to modify the initial interpretation. This possibility reminds us that creation is based on the freedom of expression according to the feeling, the desire, the moment. The group offered us a live rock ardent and rhythmic, imbued with poetry, punctuated with metal flashes. I will leave with regret the dream of the Korrigan. I would have liked it to continue.
