Deaf Blokes, groupe de stoner et de punk rock, avec Seb Alaise au chant, Olivier à la guitare, Pierre Rouland à la basse et Stéphane Carpentier à la batterie. RdvROCK a assisté à deux lives de Deaf Blockes avant celui-ci, à l’occasion du Tribal Fest 2019 et du Well-Fest en juin 2020.Un début sombre, lancinant, avant que la batterie n'accélère le rythme et qu'un riff hypertendu ne viennent bousculer ce 'Preacher-Man' et lui insuffler une colère, alimentée par la voix rocailleuse de Seb. Après une corde cassée en fin de 'Life is Hell', 'One Season' nous balance des accords fiévreux et dépouillés. La vigueur vocale s'intensifie, jusqu'à parvenir à un quasi-point de rupture, livrant toute la véhémence de son tourment. 'Sky Keeper' sera l'occasion d'un duo avec Cendrine Lefèvre, chanteuse du groupe de covers H'Tag. Un titre sur lequel Seb va s'interrompre pour jouer sur deux congas, tout d'abord en délicatesse puis de plus en plus rapidement, accompagné par ses musiciens, avant de reprendre le chant, appuyé par Cendrine. Sky Keeper déroule une ligne mélodique envoûtante. Le solo de basse sur Tired Of et ensuite celui à la guitare viennent colorer ce titre débordant d'énergie. Après la reprise de 'Gardenia' du groupe Kyuss, Guillaume, l'un des chanteurs de Rising All Star, montera sur la scène chanter avec Seb pour 'Run', une chanson hyper tonique et très fluide. 'Death Row' vient nous cueillir avec sa mélodie électrisante et hypnotique et pour finir, nous laisse exsangues après une accélération tumultueuse aux allures de cavalcade infernale. Le show se terminera après un rappel du public avec 'Mo'Yeah', sur lequel résonneront les screams de Seb.
Ce live met en évidence la capacité de Deaf Blokes à se renouveler et à proposer des nouveautés. C'est toujours un plaisir d'aller à leur rencontre et d'assister à leurs lives. Carrés, les musiciens ont offert un set solide et Seb son charisme et sa générosité non seulement dans sa prestation, mais aussi en invitant d'autres artistes à partager la scène avec lui.

RdvROCK attended two Deaf Blockes live shows before this one, at Tribal Fest 2019 and Well-Fest in June 2020.A dark, throbbing beginning, before the drums pick up the pace and a high-strung riff shakes up this 'Preacher-Man' and infuses it with anger, fueled by Seb's screeching voice. After a broken string at the end of 'Life is Hell', 'One Season' throws us some feverish and stripped chords. The vocal vigor intensifies, until reaching an almost breaking point, delivering all the vehemence of its torment. Sky Keeper' will be the occasion of a duet with Cendrine Lefèvre, singer of the cover band H'Tag. A title on which Seb will stop to play on two congas, first delicately and then more and more quickly, accompanied by his musicians, before taking over the singing, supported by Cendrine. Sky Keeper unfolds a bewitching melodic line. The bass solo on 'Tired Of' and then the one on the guitar come to color this track overflowing with energy. After the cover of 'Gardenia' from Kyuss, Guillaume, one of the singers of Rising All Star, will go on stage with Seb for 'Run', a very tonic and fluid song. Death Row' comes to pick us up with its electrifying and hypnotic melody and to finish, leaves us exsanguinated after a tumultuous acceleration with the paces of a hellish cavalcade. The show will end after an encore from the audience with 'Mo'Yeah', on which Seb's screams will resound.
This live show highlights Deaf Blokes' ability to renew themselves and to propose new things. It's always a pleasure to go to meet them and to attend their live shows. Square, the musicians offered a solid set and Seb his charisma and generosity not only in his performance, but also by inviting other artists to share the stage with him.
